Designs of Stainless Steel Sinks

Designs may vary depending on the creativity of all the sink manufacturers; however it is only wise for you to consider design that works before you think about the beauty it displays since sinks are meant to perform specific jobs. This automatically means that the purpose of the sink should influence the design of the sink in big way. A stainless steel kitchen sink must there fore vary in design as compared to a faucet, further still the kitchen size will further determine the sink size as a big house with a big kitchen will most likely have a very big sink to contain the many family members.

Leaving the utility of the sink aside, same stainless steel utility sinks may still have different designs according to the individual preferences of the user. Here are some tips to consider while choosing a stainless steel utility sink;

  • Materials: These determine its durability and beauty and will there fore also determine the cost of the sink. Stainless steel that has nickel and chrome is very durable as chrome ensures the hardness while nickel adds hardness and strength
  • Thickness: The thickness of the stainless steel enhances its durability i.e. the greater the thickness the more durable the sink
  • Finish: A long lasting finish makes the sink more resistant to corrosion and also makes it easy to clean and maintain incase of chemical, mineral or food deposits.
  • Design detail: The design makes the sink user friendly or difficult to use, for example a sink with the waste water drainage at the far rear gives more room to work than a drainage hole at the centre of the sink
  • Sound insulation: The better the sound proofing on the sink the less noise emanating from the sink during its use hence a peaceful atmosphere in the kitchen

Fitting Of Sinks

It is often assumed that this exercise involves too much time as well as civil works that most people would prefer to avoid. Although this may be true, This hassles may however be overcome by doing a systematic analysis before embarking on this type of affair. It would save a lot of pain, money and time if you took your time to choose the right person who would in turn come up with a working design and then have a good way of executing the venture. Most stainless steel sinks come in easy designs that are ideal for drop-in or undermount installation. It is however very essential to ensure that the mounting or fitting is professionally done to avoid cases of food or mineral deposits sticking in the gaps in case the mounting is not properly done., this will further result in odors caused by rotting food and mineral deposits getting their way into these gaps. This mistake may also compromise the stability of the sink especially in the case of a stainless steel undermount sink.

A 346 Undermount Offset Single Bowl Stainless Steel Kitchen Sink is Great sink. Great price compared to the brand name versions we were considering! Very sturdy, doesn't seem like there will be a lot of vibration/noise. We are still in the construction process so we haven't been able to install yet. The seams inside the sink could be a little cleaner but still very happy with the look and quality we are getting for an amazing price!
