Golf Tees

This term refers to the small pin like structures that are plugged into the ground in order to place a golf ball to, raise it to strategic positions to a golfer’s advantage. Golf tees come in many shapes and colors as well as sizes. This is simply because a golfer will need tees of different heights depending on the distance he needs to cover from a stroke. The introduction of the tee was a major change in golf circles, before the tee golf balls would be raised by heaps of sand that were provided in boxes

A standard golf ball tee is usually 2.125 inches long although longer and shorter tees are available, the golf rules however do not permit a tee to be longer than 4 inches and its design must not be in such a way that it can indicate the line of play or even influence the movement of the ball.. The original tees were made of wood but with time, new models made of tough plastic have come into the market. The standard rule allows the use of tees for the first stroke of each hole; the rules may however vary for local or seasonal tournaments. An example is in winter-rules when the tee is used for subsequent strokes to protect the turf when it is unduly at risk.

Tees have become synonymous to golf that some passionate golfers are even requesting for personalized golf tees as a way of branding themselves in a bid to stand out from the crowd. Other tournament organizing companies may also personalize the tees as a promotional gimmick. The sponsors of the tournament can also use the tees to market a particular event related to the game.

The use of branded tees cannot be limited to companies trying to advertise using the gadget. It is also a way of showing particular appreciation to some one if we present them with branded tees. Tee manufacturing companies can easily imprint a name on your tees at reasonable costs, imagine the emotions this gesture can evoke if you imprint the name of a golf-loving friend on tees and give them as a present.

The tee raises the golf ball in order to give the shot a higher trajectory. In some instances, the situation may require a lower trajectory and the golfer is absolutely at liberty to decide whether to use the tee or not. This means that although the use of the tee can be limited to certain situations, the decision to strike without the tee is open at all times even if the stroke is a tee shot. Depending on the circumstances at hand, a golfer may decide not to use the tee when playing; the rules will not force you into using tees although a tee gives the golfer an advantage especially when striking the ball over along distance.
